Fun Arrangin'

Rhythmical Fur Elise

Here's Carson from our studio jazzing up a well known classic, Fur Elise, with a bit of rhythm... He's added his own twist to Beethoven's classic by changing up the octaves, rhythm, etc.

When students learn to see music in patterns, making their own arrangements is easy... and FUN!!

Yep, that's us ringing bells at the end!  Woo hoo!

They just used a prior recording, but it's fun nonetheless!

(Though I'm crossing my fingers that maybe next time we'll get to record with them! heh heh)

Guess who I was lucky enough to meet...?

The ever-popular William Joseph... Woo hoo!
Piano player extraordinaire!

If you haven't heard of this guy yet, you will. He's opened for Josh Groban & Clay Aiken and was also signed by David Foster. He also recently recorded the AMAZING piano on water video (on our very own Utah Lake). See below...

Piano rocks!

Here it is... William Joseph's epic piano-playing on water!! --Yep, that's on my bucket list.
As if walking on water wasn't enough, why not go for playing the piano?!

@MakinMusicMagic haha... Awesome bucket list!

Teacher's Song Arrangement

9/11/2014

~Hey kids --Here's more proof that your piano teacher composes and arranges music --for fun!~...

I arranged the piano part for this song about America, "Freedom's Light"--just in time for Sept. 11th.
My friend Cara wrote the song and I wrote the piano arrangement to go with it.
Such fun!  Click to listen...

Beware: It's catchy... been stuck in my head all week.

Cara also wrote a book along with this song, "The Re-Constitution of America: Making Your Personal Pledge"...

6 Flats, No Sweat...

I LOVE it when students say "This is fun" to a song with 6 flats...

Yes, I know it's hard to believe, but this is literally what came out of my piano students' mouths yesterday, learning a song with 6 flats...

Plus this was only about the 8th or 9th song they've learned to play by note-reading, as well.

(I know, I know... most of you won't believe this.)

Yeah, the method I teach is WAY cool... "Simply Music".  Their approach to key signature is brilliant

--Only wish I could've learned it this way as a kid...

It's not everyday when my piano students show up to lessons like this... with a little extra facial hair.  Cute, cute!  (Guess they'd had a fun day at school)...

Julie learned to play one of her piano songs on her flute too --which added a nice touch to our recent concert-- while Aaron from our studio accompanied her.
